Okay, deep breath in…. deep breath out… Are you ready for the news? I GOT A JOB! I am getting paid to go to grad school to get my Masters in Horticulture Science. AND my coursework will be in horticulture and food science. AND my research will be on medicinal plants.
Let me back up and tell you how this came to be. It is a pretty cool story. Continue reading
It is time to update my bio because Friday night May 8th, I officially graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Nutrition Science!
I am going to tell you all about the day, but first let me tell you how I got here. My academic journey started at a young age. I was homeschooled and had a twin sister that I was naturally competitive with. We would be working through ‘Explode the Code’ school books that taught us to read and write. I would check her work and if I found out she had secretly gotten ahead, I would do the same. Chris went to a conference on Friday/Saturday last week during our detox and they had hot pretzels, cookies, soda, and lots of other snacks that weren’t on the detox. He passed them all up. I was so proud! It is great that I am married to a man that supports me so much by giving up cookies and hot pretzels to stick to a detox with me :). What a keeper!
I asked Chris to write up his thoughts on the detox. Here they are: Continue reading
Based on my post from yesterday, I have a lot to think about in terms of time management and managing my commitments. I am motivated to change more than ever before, and I want to take advantage of that.
In the past, I was the Queen of New Year’s Resolutions. I was going to ‘get in shape’, eat clean, pray unceasingly and all the other behaviors we idealize in order to achieve the perfect version of our self. But, instead of making a bunch of resolutions, I picked a word that I wanted to inform how I live this year. A word that serves as a gentle reminder of things I want to work towards, without judgment. Continue reading
